Having never read Mein Kampf, I never knew exactly what Hitler's plans were, but I think we assumed World domination--though I guess it would have had to be divided with Japan--unless he turned on Japan as he did in Russia. But I do know that we on the East Coast were worried. My dad was an Air Raid Warden, and we had air raid drills both in school and at home. In retrospect, I don't know how we thought Hitler's forces would be able to conquer the U.S.,, although apparently there were submarine attacks along the Atlantic coasts.
