Hi Melissa!

Excellent points, too.

I have felt like so many list members were my mentors in the beginning. Having one mentor who used the same software as the new volunteer would be very helpful, because that mentor would understand what the particular software does and how to set it up for what is best.

Thanks Melissa for wanting the best quality books in the collection. I'm with you and anyone else in this camp all the way.

Jamie's comment about volunteers not knowing what they don't know and possibly having test proofs, sparked some ideas. I think new volunteers should tell Bookshare what software they are using to scan or proof, and be matched with experienced volunteers, using similar software, who have agreed to be mentors. The new volunteer should be sent files pertaining to their specific software, and do test runs before actually beginning to scan or proof materials. They can contact their mentor at any time if they run into issues. These are just my ideas, and my desire is to get the highest quality books into the collection.
