Hi Valerie!I like the workspace idea. My husband is on a scolarship comittee. To get ready for the meeting where students are chosen to receive a scholarship, he logs into a secure web site or part of one where he types a password he is given, I think. There, he reads applications the students have submitted. Bookshare, I would think could do something like that, keeping the books secure and in their watchful eyes. Then, for people who are not eligible to be Bookshare members also have a say in any issues the books have that people are working on, since it's for the whole volunteer community to advise where they are knowledgeable.

I like Melissa's idea as well as whoever suggested the practice files to prepare people for proofreading. I think samples, examples, mentors, as well as chat and the list are so essential to learning good habits and improving our skills. I also think if we had a workspace that was secure where experienced volunteers could examine books before submission to make suggestions of things to look for would be helpful. It would mean more work for some people, but in the end we would have much higher quality books in the collection.Valerie On May 8, 2010, at 6:18 PM, Melissa Smith wrote:> Which is why I suggest matching mentors and beginners using the same software, and only volunteers who have submitted several high quality scans can be mentors. To unsubscribe from this list send a blank Email to bksvol-discuss-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxput the word 'unsubscribe' by itself in the subject line.
