Hi all,Donna and Shannon, don't be put off by what people are saying here. Perhaps the better way to say this might be, if you scan, please be sure to at least check to see if all the pages are intact, and that there are no long passages of illegible text. Usually, if you scan the first page of a book, and then you get the contrast right, the rest of the pages will follow suit. I don't have time to scan, which is why I chose to validate. I think scannors are wonderful folks, and most of you are careful and you do your job well. No, we're just citing those who are not careful, and who do not care about what they scan or who reads it. The whole idea of volunteering for this project is so that we can provide others with books they wouldn't ordnarily get. Yes, we do get compensated, but that should never be the primary reason for volunteering either as a submitter or as a validator. So long as we all keep this in mind, the quality of books will be consistently good.
