That was a rough deal.
The time a book is in the stage of approval can play in the factor, for sure.
I had one that went close that way, too. I might have been biased. But I
downloaded and examined the PQ copy and I was more pleased with my scan. But
mostly due to the navigation. I have to admit this business of trying to fine
each and every possible scano is probably always going to be a factor. No
matter how much I try, I am sure the proofreaders are finding them in my
submitted scanned books.

I am reminded of when Penguin first started supplying books. I was right
in the middle of scanning Cold War by Tom Clancy. I continued, but kept
nervously checking the collection to see if the publisher would beat me
to it. When I finished it was not there yet so I submitted it. It
languished on the checkout list for a long time and still no publisher
supplied copy. Then someone finally took it to proofread and right up to
the proofed copy being uploaded Penguin still had not supplied it. But
then it ended up being rejected because at the last minute Penguin came
through with their own copy.

submitted them and the time the proffer checked them back in publisher
copies were added. I checked very thoroughly for those books before I
submitted them because they were relatively recent (around 2010 I
think). Well, at least we can all feel proud that it was surely the
work of us volunteers that got bookshare such a good reputation that
publishers feel it is worthwhile to contribute to. And I'll keep

By the way, I think most of the time books get a new title when they
are bought from one publisher and the new one wants to make it look
like they have a new book by that author. Another case is when the
publisher didn't like the name the author chose, but when a new
edition came out the author was more well known so he or she pushed
back to get the title he wanted used.

completely free source. Alas, I now start searching for another book
to scan. I think publishers give different titles to different
editions of the same book so that they can sell more books. I am sure
that readers of print books feel frustration too when they buy what
appears to be a new book by their favorite author only to find that
they have already read it and they were fooled by a different title.
