As far as I know There really should be no reason to have .kes books on step1, and probably not .ark as both openbook and Kurzweil can translate a file to .rtf.

(Not really sure about .ark as I don't use openbook).

I have only seen one case where I was glad I got a book in .kes format. That was when there were some scanning errors and the image files came along with the .kes file. But that's the only time I've been glad to have a .kes file.

The problem comes if the book was scanned with a later copy of Kurzweil than your current version.

I am using v10.05 and the latest version is v11. So if someone with v11 sends a .kes file to step 1 and I download it to my computer, there is the possibility that it will not work with my system.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Ark &Kes books on download list

When I went to the download list to find a book to work on while working on the one I'm doing, I started at the bottom but found a lot of the books are ARK and a few are KES. Just letting those of you who can work in those that they're there, if anyone's interested. smile Or if the submitters can convert them to rtf and resubmit? Or is that not possible?
