I'm not sure about screen readers, but not putting a space doesn't mess with my Braille display that I have noticed.

I put a space between the word or punctuation and the foot note, as that way
it doesn't mess with the screen reader or braille.

Hey folks, I'm currently working on a book that has the footnote numbers in the middle of the sentences. Just wondering if I should leave them as is, put a space between the number and the word/punctuation mark before it, use parentheses, etc. I know that, to a certain extent, this is a matter of opinion, but I'd like to know what you all think. Sorry about the stream of questions.

Peace,
Bobbie
