Thank you all for your input, and Donna, thank you for the web site page. The URL was pobably in the letter, but those can be phony, too. The fact that the letter said it was founded in 1919, plus all the small print at the end that gave states that could be called to check, did make it seem real, but I've become very wary of scams, and to be successful scams have to seem real. Besides, even if it is real, I wanted to be sure it did good. And Mary, I, too, am spatially challenged. I did really well in math all the way through high school until it came to solid geometry. I couldn't visualize things, or draw them (except finally a cube) in 3 dimensions.
