[bksvol-discuss] Re: Admin. Q

I really don't care who this offends, because I'm highly offended by a person
who would only validate a book for their own credit! Let me just say that a
person of that sort has no respect for his fellow members, the books, or him or
herself. They are a real unmitigated drag--and I cleaned that up!

On a completely different subject, how does one go about making his
registration as a volunteer valid?

I shall now validate this emale.

Peace,
Ernie

Some people just want the credit and do the bare minimum to get that credit.
I do think most, if not all, of us here are beyond that, but there are some
validators who don't even do a spell check. That can be obvious with some of
the books in the collection. A lot of us do want better than that, and a lot of
us care more about the quality than the credit, but there are some things that
would have been easy to spot if the validator would have done a little more
than the minimum. I've seen that in some of the books I've read. Take care.

    Julie,

Forgive my impertinence, but why would someone validate a book if they
really don't care? Seems that if one is willing to volunteer to take on that
kind of work, it should be because they want the books on the site to be the
best possible.

    Peace,
    Ernie

Hi, Tom. I can understand what you're saying about this, but sometimes,
if books are poorly done, really long or anything like that, it might take
longer to get them done. Some validators are perfectionists and want their
books to be as good as they can make them. Others just do the bare minimum and
let it go at that. Some books would be rejected if a validator who really cared
about that particular book couldn't keep it until it was worthy of putting up
and as good as it could be made. This might not be an issue for some, but for
other books, they may be rare or something that most people might not think
about rescanning, so that book might not ever make it to the site if that
happens. These are all just thoughts out loud and probably at least some
reasons for why there is no limit. take care.

Gerald, A second thought, Has Bookshare ever decided to limet the
number of edit renewals allowed? It would seem that after a reasonable
period, the book should be returned to the step-one Q. Tom

          Tom,

Janice has said that it's been a bit of a mad house around there
since back in December due to anual end of the year tasks and getting things
backunder control since the holidays. Once things calm down a bit I would
imagine that Gustavo will whittle down the Awaiting Admin Approval queue. As
for if he ever gets to the bottom, I believe he did that two or three times
last year and ended up sending out a message that he had nothing to approve.

Hi Everyone, been laying low for a while. But I have a question, do
you think Gustavo will ever get to the bottom of the administrative Q? Still
have books sitting there from September, and my Dreamland series by Dale Brown
has-never been found apparently, lost, "lost beneath the streets of Boston,"
their fate never to be learned, as the song goes. The answers I get are vague,
that the books are out being edited, since May or June? Tom
