The problem with your idea, Scott, is that likely readers of this list are 
already doing that.
I'd wager that most of those "ark" uploaders aren't on either list 
and aren't aware that their choice of format is greatly handicapping their 
submission in getting validated and into the collection.
A similar problem is created by K1000 users who happen to choose .kes as 
the format for their submissions.
This really is a problem BookShare somehow has to address perhaps in 
co-operation with Both Freedom Scientific and Kurzweil Educational.
Utilities are needed to deal with this problem; and for that to happen, 
the ocr vendors would have to authorize the development 
of such a utility.
