Thank you Jamie for the explanation. I will feel much better about ordering books in future.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Penninah, I sell books on half.com and amazon.com sometimes as a third party seller. Their guidelines are so picky that I almost always list all of my books as "acceptable". For example, Amazon says for new the book has to be just that--new. Unused and unread in perfect condition.

For Like New it has to be unread in perfect condition.

Very Good can be a read book but must be in excellent condition with an undamaged spine.

Good condition has to be in clean condition, with the dust cover if applicable, and can have some spine wear.

Acceptable is a readable copy with all pages and cover intact. Any notes or highlighting cannot obscure the text.

In addition, on Amazon, you can ask the seller questions about his or her books. When you're looking at the used books page, just click on the seller's name and then scroll down to under "related links" and click on "Contact this seller" and a form will open for you to fill out to contact the seller about that book.
