Hi Roger!

I have seen some of the same books with holds ever since I have been proofreading since late October. I agree that there should be a reasonable expiration date for a book to be held, say three or four months at most. I can always find an interesting book that isn't held for anyone, so it isn't a huge deal, but I'm just thinking books could be gotten in the collection faster if they weren't held indefinitely.

I think there are several books too that were proofed by people not on this list and returned for more editing with a hold for them and they never picked them up again. It would be good if they could be contacted and reminded. Personally, I still tend to think that there should be an expiration date for holds. Subject: [bksvol-discuss] A Gentle Reminder

Hi everyone. I know we're all busy and that things are pretty hectic around
the holidays. I'm writing to offer a gentle reminder, to ask those of you
who proofread books to please go to the link to check out a book and do a
quick search for your first name. Please also take a look at page 2. There
are several books being held for people that have been on step 1 for several
months. I suspect it's partially because you don't know they've been posted
since they're toward the middle of the list of books to be checked out.
Maybe the book you're yearning for has already been posted, lost in the
shuffle.

I know some of you have good reasons for not taking the books too. I don't
want to single anyone out, so this is the only way I know of to draw your
attention to books you might not know are there.

If you see a book being held for you that you know you aren't able to work
on, you can email volunteer@xxxxxxxxxxxxx to have the hold removed. Then
another volunteer can proofread the book and get it into the collection.
