I birded western Henderson Co. again this morning.

6:30AM 45º clear, fog rising off the Ohio. North wind. Later mostly cloudy.

In order: Hardy Slough, 268 slough, 1574 slough, Grassy Pond/Powell's Lake Unit,
drying slough near GP/PL between road and Ohio River, Pond Creek Marsh, Ohio River shore.

Best shore birds at a drying pool between Mt. Vernon Road and the Ohio River near GP/PL in a combined soybean field.

First of season:

White-crowned Sparrows: both adults & 1st winter imm.  at GP/PL

Highlights:

Pied-billed Grebe  2 at HS and 2 at PCM
Canada Goose HS overhead
Cooper's Hawk PCM
Harrier ORs
Wilson's Snipe 4 at 268s & 6 near GP/PL
Lesser Yellowlegs 8 near GP/PL
Pectoral Sandpiper 15 near GP/PL
Least Sandpiper 20 near GP/PL
Short-billed Dowitcher 2 near GP/PL
Tree Swallows everywhere
Robins GP/PL
Catbird GP/PL
Yellow-rumped Warbler GP/PL and PCM
Indigo Bunting PCM
Swamp Sparrow GP/PL and PCM

And two River Otters at Hardy Slough.
