At about 6:00 p.m. this evening, I was traveling on KY 504 in Elliott County,
at the Ray Barker farm and saw 15 cattle egrets with Ray's black angus cows.
At first I could not see what they were, just white dots, so I turned around
and went back for a good look. The cows were not happy with all those white
things flying around and walking on the ground. It was funny to see the white
birds make those big black cows jump. This is the first time I've seen cattle
egrets in Elliott County!
Tonight, a Barred Owl has been calling. I've seen it fly through the yard
several times. Yesterday, I had a blue bird come down the pipe of my wood
stove. That was sure strange. I opened the stove door, it flew out, I caught
it, took it outside and it happily flew away. Birding is never dull in Elliott
County!
Happy birding to all!
