While cleaning tackle and tackle box in preparation for our annual
fishing trip, 17th straight, I glanced up at a thistle feeder on my
patio (?) and LO & BEHOLD ! there was a male and female PURPLE
FINCH ! ! This is the first time they have visited my feeders, here in
Florence and previously in Edgewood, in the last five years! So now
you know the reason for my happiness. In Edgewood I had great
habitat for many sp of birds - 113 over 32 yrs in fact, but even there the
visitation from PP dopped off dramatically the last 4-5 years I was there.
Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come for this year. Good
birding to all.
