[birdky] Re: personal backyard bird count

It is interesting reading the reports from around this wonderfully diverse
state. I too
have noticed few house finches this year.

I had a bumper day at the feeders today, a dozen each of cardinals and
goldfinches, but only
1 house finch. I did have 1 pine siskin and 1 female cowbird. No fox sparrows
or towhees this
winter sadly.

There were a reasonable number of white-throated sparrows but no white-crowned
sparrows,
which in my experience are much patchier in their distribution.

My only other notable sighting recently was a warbler on UK campus on Saturday.
I had
reasonable views of it, albeit with the naked eye, and it definitely wasn't a
yellow-rumped.
It was a darkish green colour overall with a noticeably marked face. Not enough
to ID it sadly,
and from reading Brainard's excellent KOS checklist there are several warblers
which occasionally
winter. I'll let you know if I see it again.
