[birdky] not birds

I walked a trail at the Alpine Recreation Area, DBNF in southern Pulaski today. I heard what first struck me as a big flock of ducks in the middle of the woods!, then I realized it was Wood Frogs. It didn't take them long to get going after the temperature warmed up. Mt. Chorus frogs were also calling. Two appeared to be in a shoving match for a preferred calling spot. I also saw my first butterfly of the year in KY a Mourning Cloak.

Alpine was fairly good for migrant birds last fall. Weekends aren't a good time to go, as ATV's run rampant. If you go early and leave before around 11:00am you might survive.

Birding smiles . . . . .
