At 5:30pm on Friday, a big push of cranes began. Several thousand, low flying birds came over the Otter Creek office in about 15 minutes. Followed them down to an area south of Flaherty, but not the Cecilia/Stephensburg area, several thousand birds were observed going to roost below a low rise. Impossible to estimate how many thousands were going to roost, but there were 1-2 thousand birds in the air at any time trying to land for the 30 minutes before it became too dark to see. Upon returning to the office, cranes were still heard overhead until after 7pm. Will check out roost at daylight on Saturday. Only a handful went toward the Cecilia area.
