6 August 2006 Today David Roemer came by the house and picked me up to go together to Guthrie Swamp. Observed at the NW corner or the swamp were the following species of interest: * Around 80 Canada Geese, * Around 40 Mallards, * 1 Blue-winged Teal, * 1 SNOWY EGRET, * 4 Great Blue Herons, * 2 Solitary Sandpipers, * 3 Spotted Sandpipers, * 2 Pectoral Sandpipers, * 10 Least Sandpipers (including 1 juvenile), * 1 Semi-palmated Sandpiper, and 1 * 1 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER Observed at the south central location, near the hunt club were 2 LITTLE BLUE HERONS, 1 mature and 1 immature. Observed at the Southeast observation point were 3 Great Egrets, 1 Great Blue Heron, and a Cooper's Hawk. The observations were warm in the sun, but fairly pleasant in the shade with a nice breeze cooling at least one observer nearly constantly. That concludes this report.
