Location: Falls of the Ohio (KY) Observation date: 9/4/10 (from 0830 to 1130) Notes: Birded the Falls looking for the Buff-breasted Sandpipers that Eddie Huber located on Friday. No luck............met birder Terry Anderson from KY and one other couple also from KY searching for the Buff-breasted S. This is the lowest I've seen the river in years, lots of good shorebird habitat at Wave Rock. Number of species in KY: 16 Canada Goose 65 Wood Duck 12 Mallard 55 Double-crested Cormorant 8 Great Blue Heron 32 Great Egret 22 Black-crowned Night-Heron 5 Black Vulture 62 Turkey Vulture 3 Osprey 1 Red-shouldered Hawk 1 Killdeer 42 Solitary Sandpiper 1 Semipalmated Sandpiper 2 Pectoral Sandpiper 1 peep sp. 5 peeps were always moving around together, couldn't get a decent scope view for positive ID. Ring-billed Gull 1 Indiana migrant birds seen along Woodland Loop Trail at the Falls: Blue-gray Gnatcatcher 6 Cedar Waxwing 4 Tenn. Warbler 1 Chestnut-sided Warbler 1 Magnolia Warbler 1 Black & White Warbler 1 Am.
