I forgot the most interesting part of the hummers last night. I was carrying
watermelon rind that Rhonda had not eaten too closely so it was still very red.
The hummers were coming in close to get a look. They must have thought it was a
flower worth checking out.

Subject: [birdky] hummers

We had a pair mating earlier, and they have stayed around, but I never found a
nest. I am fairly certain that I had an immature hummer in the yard last night.
I am not up on what time of the season you can expect to see fledglings.

Is this with in the window for fledgling hummers to appear?

My martins have not left yet. They spend little time here now other than
roosting, now that fledging has taken place. I have not brought the house down
to look, but I think I only had two nest this year. I had 8 adult birds, fewest
ever, and I think 4 fledglings.

I had a flock of mixed blackbirds come to roost last night, in the flood
control pit/nice small piece of marsh behind our place, that may have been
enough to show on a radar.
