[birdky] hart county cbc

the weather and birds were cooperative for us yesterday as we tallied 62
species in our circle with virtually no open water. this was the highest
number of species ever recorded in the 17-year history of this count
most ponds were frozen, although those that were open yielded lots of mallards
along with small numbers of other dabblers. highlights included 2 immature
bald eagles, 42 white-crowned sparrows (most ever), 80 horned larks, and 76
bluebirds. missed completely were purple finches, r-b nuthatches, and
sapsuckers.
steve kistler (dictator for life), mitch sturgeon (president for the duration),
and other lesser human beings.
