We went down to Dog Creek on the Nolin Lake today for an hour, followed by a
trip to Mammoth Cave. Birds of note included green heron, osprey, wood duck,
red-eyed, yellow-throated, and white-eyed vireos, kingbirds, cliff swallows.
Ovenbirds, black and white, Kentucky and prairie warblers were our firsts of
the spring.
Also, we've been seeing a lot of Monarch butterflies. They're considerably
earlier than most years.
