It is, of course, more pleasant to think that if your Kestrels disappear in 
late April, the young have fledged and everything has turned out all right.  In 
most of the years that Kestrels have nested in one of my barns, the chicks have 
fledged in mid to late May and remained prominently noticable in the nest box 
vicinity for a month or more. I have had some unexplained losses and 
disappearances over the years too. As far as I know, my Kestrels are doing all 
right so far.
