[birdky] boreal migrants

As I have been reading the various posts about Swainson's Thrushes and other
migrants on their way north through Kentucky on their way to the boreal
forest I thought some of you might be interested in learning more about some
of these species on our recently completed online boreal bird guide at
www.borealbirds.org.

For example, did you know that an estimated 73% of the global population of
Swainson's Thrush breeds within the boreal forest of Canada and Alaska?

We are also having a contest to inspire people to learn more about boreal
birds in which you guess the number of boreal species that a team sponsored
by the Boreal Songbird Initiative will see on the upcoming World Series of
Birding (more info can be found at www.borealbirds.org/blog/). Doesn't cost
anything and you could win a copy of Princeton's Birdwatchers Companion by
Chris Leahy--an excellent book if you haven't seen it already.
