[birdky] boone county birding

The following are some highlights from a frigid (-12) morning of birding around
Boone County on Saturday January 31:

East Bend Power Plant    Waterfowl in addition to the numerous Canada Geese and
Mallards included Am. Black Duck (10), Ring-necked Duck (10), Lesser Scaup (2),
Common Goldeneye (16), Bufflehead (3), and Common Merganser (3). Also seen were
a light-phase Rough-legged Hawk and many Am. Tree, Song, White-crowned, and
White-throated Sparrows.

Camargo Hunt Club    25 Horned Larks and 1 Rusty Blackbird. We could not
relocate the Lapland Longspur seen there on January 30.

Petersburg     In a field along Ky 20 opposite the Petersburg Cemetery, 50+
Snow Buntings were seen around 12:30 PM. The birds were last seen flying into
an inaccessible gravel pit near the Ohio River but may return to feed in this
area.
