While kayaking up Jonathan Creek to get out of the wind, I
encountered what I thought was a beaver. It was rolling in the water until
I approached it. It went under, then resurfaced and with a very
quizical face looked at me for a brief second, dove under and after a few
minutes exited up the bank. It was at this time I noticed a tapered tail
and not the flat tail of the beaver. It was easily as large as a beaver.
When I looked into its face, I was reminded of the otters in Alaska. On
the other hand, I am thinking Nutria. What's the latest on Nutria in
Kentucky?
