The great weather lured us out this afternoon and evening for a few hours at a couple of spots near Nolin Lake. HIghlights included nice families of adult & young wood ducks and green herons, along with a LOT of kingbirds. There were dozens at several locations. One group was gorging on unidentified red berries. We saw tons of barn swallows, but no other swallows or martins were found, including at two bridges where cliff swallows nested earlier in the year. Our best find was a cooperative y.b. cuckoo, our first really good look at one this summer. The camp host at Dog Creek says he's still seeing Baltimore orioles, but we couldn't turn up any today. This weather makes it hard to stay indoors :) Steve Kistler Hart Co
