As previously posted by Celia Lawrence, a single Yellow-crowned Night Heron was
seen on Greenbelt between Ashby and Johnsontown Roads in the ditch on the
northwest side at 5:30 this afternoon.? It flew to a tree nearby providing a
photo op. See pictures below.
This evening we visited the Falls of the Ohio and found a pair of Ospreys
feeding and possibly carrying fish to a nest on Shippingport Island. While we
saw no evidence of the nest, the Osprey did return to fishing shortly after
disappearing into the woods. Typically they will sit and eat their catch for
much longer period than they seemed to this evening.
We started the day at Tioga Falls looking for nesting warblers and were not
disappointed. We found the following warblers:
Prairie
Yellow-breasted Chats
Louisiana Waterthrush
Northern Parula
Kentucky
Worm Eating
Hooded
Tom and Colleen Becker
