[birdky] Yard Birds

We arrived at our Butler County farm from Florida late Friday evening. On Saturday morning we filled our bird feeders and in less than 15 minutes a flock of goldfinches had moved in and occupied every perch on the thistle seed feeder. Others devoured black oil sunflower seed while waiting their turn. In the past 24 hours we have seen 1 bluejay, 1 bluebird, several titmice, chickadees and chipping sparrows, 1 wt sparrow, 1 pr cardinals, 1 pr downy wps, 1 junco, a phoebe and a beautiful towhee. A hummingbird came by to check the porch before I'd had a chance to boil fresh syrup. Nothing unusual of course, but I'm amazed at how quickly word gets around that a new food source is available.
