[birdky] Woodcock and Sandhills

Heard a woodcock peenting about 75 yards from the back door this evening.
Just as it started to get dark my wife and I watched it do a courtship
flight. After it landed we could here another inthe air, farther off and
out of site. Have been hearing them for a couple of weeks and I flushed two
last week while checking a fence line. I have not seen or heard a woodcock
on our property in four years.

The cranes are still feeding in the stubble fields along KY HWY 70 heading
east towards Metcalfe county. The fields are on the right as you are
heading east, just prior to the Metcalfe line. Not as many as before, but
there have been a few hundred there the past few days. Haven't seen anymore
onthe ground in Metcalfe, but have seen and heard several fly-overs.
