Joanie and I spent a fabulous weekend touring western Kentucky with the 
following birding highlights:

FULTON COUNTY/LOWER HICKMAN BOTTOMS
Red-tailed Hawk
B.j.calurus type (adult light-morph)
B.j.harlani (adult light-morph)

Oct 25

FULTON COUNTY/LOWER HICKMAN BOTTOMS
Greater White-fronted Goose (90-100 fly-over southbound)
Red-tailed Hawk (adult B.j.calurus x Krider's)
American Golden-Plover (10 fly-over southbound)
Northern Rough-winged Swallow (2)
House Wren
Vesper Sparrow

KY LAKE/BIRMINGHAM POINT
Laughing Gull (ad and 1st-cycle)
Franklin's Gull (ad)

KY/LITTLE BEAR BOAT RAMP
Osprey
Lesser Black-backed Gull (1st-cycle)

Oct 26

An unprecedented flight of Franklin's Gulls into Kentucky occurred today with a 
total of 220 counted at a few spots and specific numbers included below.  
Almost all were adults.  Also observed were 17 species of waterfowl.

Lesser Black-backed Gull (1st-cycle)

BARKLEY/HONKER LAKE
Gadwall (2100)

BARKLEY/SILO OVERLOOK AREA
American White Pelican (100+)
Franklin's Gull 

BARKLEY/ENERGY LAKE AREA
American White Pelican (1600+)
Franklin's Gull (40)

BARKLEY/68 BRIDGE BARS
Franklin's Gull (2)
Caspian Tern (4)

A few Great Egrets were scattered around the lakes.  Tree Swallows, Loggerhead 
Shrikes and Red-headed Woodpeckers were very apparent in western Kentucky as 
well as were Horned Larks and Savannah Sparrows.
