[birdky] Weekend observations w. KY

Most interesting observations were least sandpiper, Ross's goose, peregrine
falcon, common merganser, and palm warbler. Also seemed to find more adult
bald eagles than usual (several locations).

Fulton Co.
* least sandpiper - 16 along edge of pond along road to Hickman Ferry
* Am. pipit - 1 in same area
* geese - lots in the air, but few on ground at Long Point unit of Reelfoot;
almost no ducks there. Did see Ross's (5 total??), snow (1,000s), gr.
white-fronted geese few hundred), along with n. pintail, n. shoveler,
gadwall, Am. wigeon, and mallards.
* Could not find any longspurs.

* Did not find the spotted towhee on Bethel Church Rd. Am. tree and fox
sparrow in the area.

LBL
* gull numbers seemed low at Ky. and Barkley Dams. Did not identify
anything beyond ring-billed, herring, and Bonaparte's.
* peregrine falcon standing on one of the sandbars above Barkley Dam
* both scaup, com. goldeneye, canvasback, horned grebes, Am. white pelican
on Barkley. Waterfowl numbers seemed low. They may have been hiding from
the hunters.
* 4 male and 2 female common mergansers at Honker Bay, along with hooded
mergansers and ring-necked ducks
* found no loons
* found dead hermit thrush on the main road (The Trace) through LBL

Peabody WMA
* Mary pished in a single palm warbler along S2, Sinclair Unit
* Ash basin at Paradise had a few killdeer and 15-20 pied-billed grebes and
not much else.
* Canada geese on lake at Homestead Unit seemed to be two different sizes,
but nothing small enough that we could call it a cackling. Same lake had 6
gr. white-fronted geese and a pair of n. pintail.
* two short-eared owls, Homestead Unit
