[birdky] Waterfowl

I checked some areas for waterfowl yesterday 3 Feb. It was great to be out
birding! The lighting was so good on the waterfowl; it really showed off
their colors.
Twin Lakes Ponds (For some reason the big pond nearest the school has had
almost nothing on it, when I've checked it this winter.)

I saw a Red-tailed Hawk come in, then go into a stoop and zoom into a nest
like a rocket. It was moving so fast I couldn't tell if it brought in
nesting material, but it sat in the nest and began shifting the sticks
around. On the same hill was some nests that appeared to be Great Blue Heron
nests that I hadn't noticed before.

Today 4 Feb. I hike the Blue Heron Loop Trail at Big South Fork. There's not
much to report there except a good number of Golden-crowned Kinglets and a
Brown Creeper. It's a beautiful trail to hike.
