[birdky] Warren and Barren

David Brown and I made a trip to Barren Reservoir on 18 February but didn't see
the Whooping Crane that he observed on the 16th. We did see about 100
Sandhills in the fields along hwy 31-E near Lucas. Other birds of particular
interest observed were Redhead, both scaup, Red-breasted Merganser, Common
Loon, Bald Eagle, and Bonaparte's Gull.

The transient pools near Woodburn in Warren County are receding quickly and
McElroy will likely be down to the ditch and puddles in a day or two.
Previously reported waterfowl species have been present the past few days in
varying numbers. In addition to waterfowl today, Allison and Frank Lyne and I
observed 400+ Sandhill Cranes at McElroy and 30-40 Rusty Blackbirds as well as
a female Brewer's Blackbird at Walton Pond.

I've been expecting shorebirds to arrive any day, and present this afternoon at
Chaney were a Lesser Yellowlegs and two Least Sandpipers.
