[birdky] Warblers Warren County 26 and 27 September 2004

The woods behind my house in Warren County has been
alive with warblers the past couple of mornings. It's
magical watching them bathe on the dew-laden leaves in
the early morning light. They seem to derive great
pleasure from it, and at times I've been surrounded
by these wet, fluttering avian butterflies. I watched
a Blackburnian do a slow fall through about five feet
of thick leafy twigs, fluttering like crazy the entire
time, collecting every possible drop. They
particularly prefer a stretch that I've kept in
saplings less than 20' tall with a path through it,
which is nice as it affords great looks at or near eye
level. I love late September. Below are listed the
species observed.

Blue-winged

Northern Parula
Chestnut-sided
Magnolia
Black-throated Green
Yellow-throated
Palm
Bay-breasted
Redstart
