Fulton Co.
Best were 3 Am. golden-plovers at Open Pond and 3 first-year trumpeter (yes,
trumpeter) swans at the end of Simon Lane in Obion WMA. Many photographs taken
of both species.
Open Pond had a weird red-winged blackbird with several white patches.
Also found tree swallows at Reelfoot Long Point and purple martins over the
water at the Port of Hickman.
Small numbers of other shorebird species seen: both yellowlegs, several dozen
Wilson's snipe, and a few pectoral sandpipers.
Dabbling ducks were plentiful, green-winged teal and gadwall mostly, with
blue-winged teal, n. shoveler and n. pintail
20 snow geese and 10+ bald eagles.
3 male and 1 female red-breasted merganser and 74+ ruddy ducks at Jonathan
Creek. Many Bonaparte's gulls in Fulton Co. and at Jonathan Creek.
Side note: the road to Honker Bay in LBL is still closed.
