Between rain showers yesterday I enjoyed one of those spectacular sights of migration. Tree Swallows swooped and fluttered above the mud flats at Crappie Hollow/Blood River, Calloway County. I reported 145 on ebird (the count confidently ID'd). There were probably at least 300-500 hundred birds. These are the moments when one realizes how lucky we are to be birders! Lesser Yellowlegs, assorted ducks, egrets and gulls were also present. Hap Murray, KY
