[birdky] Re: Tree Sparrows

48 hours without electricity in the ice storm made us pay more attention to
our feeder birds. We put out lots of extra sunflower seed for the ground
feeders. Lots of doves, juncos, white throated sparrows. Doves come in 30-50
flocks. There are more house sparrows this winter than usual. Ordinarily we
have a single nesting pair for the summer; looks like they have been too
successful. Brown-headed cowbird came to hanging feeder--unusual in winter.

I went home for lunch and found the tree sparrows had finally arrived
at my feeders. I had at least 20 and maybe 30. There was also a
flock of snow buntings in the neighbor's pasture. Hopefully they will
make it to my feeders. Here's a picture of one of the sparrows.
