I spent an hour and a half at Spindletop this afternoon. Not much to see until I was leaving. I found two flocks of Horned Larks. Amoung the larks in the second flock were a dozen or two Lapland Larkspurs. I had seen them last week but today they were very near the road. They were about half way through their molt to breeding plumage. This must be the latest i have observed them up close and personal because, at first, I didn't recognize them as Lapland.
