6:45AM to Noon, 60º clear, occasional nice north wind, rising to 75º

Highlights & notes on locations:

268 slough: Great Blue Herons, Killdeers, Least Sandpipers. 268 slough is shrinking, the east end is dry.

Horseshoe Road slough: Great Blue Herons, Killdeers, Least Sandpipers, Spotted Sandpiper, Solitary Sandpiper. HRS only has water on the NW section and it is getting small.

Grassy Pond/Powell's Lake Unit: Great Blue Herons, Killdeers, Least Sandpipers, Bank Swallows. Honey Cypress slough has a new gravel road running back to it and no crops have been planted near it; but HCS is almost completely dry.

Eagles Nest at Anderson Pond: 2 big juveniles on the nest edges, one testing its wings in the wind, flapping and hopping in the air several feet. 1 Adult in the same tree.

Pond Creek Marsh: 15 Wood Ducks, 5 Mallards. Wheat has been put out as bait. No Common Moorhens seen or heard.

Hardy Slough: Great Blue Herons, Green Heron, Great Crested Flycatcher 4, E. Kingbird. Hardy Slough is turning into Hardy marsh with all the Lotus plants.

Shorebird Impoundment: 3 Great Egrets.
