[birdky] Sloughs Shorebirds

I just back from a couple days at the Sloughs WMA. On Monday, there was
some pretty decent numbers and diversity of shorebirds at the Cavenaugh
tract. Those numbers declined today, but they may have been spreading out
as there is tons of water everywhere after the recent rains. In addition to
the shorebirds there were a couple flocks of migrant Canada geese and a
sandhill crane. I also saw my first RC Kinglet of the season. There were
also pretty decent numbers of sora rails around. The numbers I have listed
below are a high count for either day (mostly Monday) of the two
days....lesser yellowlegs were the most common species.

Shorebirds:

American golden plover 1 juv
Killdeer: 25
Greater yellowlegs 15
Lesser yellowlegs 150+ on Monday, 25 on Tuesday
Solitary sandpiper 1
Spotted sandpiper 4
Dunlin 1 (juv on Monday)
Pectoral sandpiper 8
White-rumped sandpiper 1 (on Tue)
Least sandpiper ~50
Stilt sandpiper 7
Dowitcher sp. 4 (never got a good vocalization)
Common snipe: 25+
