[birdky] Sloughs Saturday & Audubon Park Rookery

7:30AM to 1PM

60º Overcast, to clear 70º
I started out late. I had to make a trip to the city dump and they didn't open until 7:30. The dump is off Stratman Road which runs along the north side of Audubon Park. So I stopped and checked out the Heron rookery. Lots of Herons and nests. A single 
Bald Eagle near the nest.

The rest of the day I birded the Sloughs Area.
Sauerheber, Woods Tract, Anderson Pond, 268 slough, Cape Hills, Jenny Hole/Highland Creek unit, 
Crenshaw Tract

Horned Grebes pair at 268 slough
Pied Billed Grebe at Anderson Pond
Great Blue Herons
Canada Geese a few at Crenshaw
Mallards
Black Ducks
Gadwalls
Pintails
Green-winged Teal
Am. Widgeons
Shovelers
Wood Ducks
Com. Goldeneyes 268 slough
Red-tailed Hawks
Red-shouldered Hawks
at Cape Hills spotted a Red-shouldered on a nest high in the fork of a tree 
Bald Eagles: one at Stratman Road, another at Anderson Pond

Killdeer
Wilson's Snipe: 15 at Woods Tract
Mourning Doves
Barred Owl: 1 at Cape Hills, another at Crenshaw Tract
Belted Kingfisher: pair
with a nest in a road cut at Cape Hills. The same area as last year.
