[birdky] Sloughs Highland Creek Unit birding & EC Doves

I did some birding this afternoon. Turned out to be contrary to the
forecast: it was windy, overcast, 48 degrees.
Before I got to the Highland Creek Unit I saw 2 EC Doves at the
intersection of 141 & 359 in Union Co in a muddy pig lot.
Highland Creek Unit is open year round. The rest of the Sloughs open
Saturday.
highlights At Highland Creek Unit:
Dbl-Crst. Cormorants: 6 going overhead
Grt. Blue Heron: 15
Great Egret: 1 (earliest I have seen one)
Canada Goose: 15 (looks like they have left)
Mallards: 150
Black Duck: 1 pair
Gadwall: 10
Pintail: 75
Greenwing Teal: 4
Am. Widgeon: 10
Shoveler: many
Wood Duck: 16
Ring-necked Duck: Many
Turkey V. 25
Tree Swallows: 16
Brown Creeper: 1
Brown Thrasher: 1
Fox Sparrow: 1
10 Deer and 100's of singing frogs.
