The KOS/Beckham fieldtrip to the Sloughs WMA in
Henderson County today was attended by 20 observers
including guest members of the Tennessee

were able to scrape out at least 93 species and most
target birds with highlights listed below.
All dabbling duck species
American Bittern
Least Bittern
Great Egret
Bald Eagle (several including all age groups)
Merlin
King Rail
Virginia Rail
Sora (12)
Greater Yellowlegs (3)
Lesser Yellowlegs (2)
Least Sandpiper (5)
Dunlin (10)
Long-billed Dowitcher (9)
Wilson's Snipe (100+)
Tree Swallow
Northern Rough-winged Swallow
Barn Swallow
Sedge Wren (3)
Marsh Wren (4)
House Wren
Northern Parula
Lincoln's Sparrow
LeConte's Sparrow
Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrow (2 w/great close-up
looks through the scope)
I would like to thank all the participants who worked
hard to make this a fabulous trip.
