Nice day for warblers. I saw the most since spring.
Highlight: 2 Yellow-rumped warblers, 1 Black-throated Blue w.
1 Scarlet Tanager
2 Moorhens
2 Blue-winged Teal
5 Brown Thrashers in one group with one of them "playing" like a cat
with a small dead snake.
Warblers:
Black & White
Golden-winged
Nashville
Magnolia
Yellow-rumped
Black-throated Green
Blackburnian
Chestnut-sided
Com. Yellowthroat
Yellow-breasted Chat
Wilson's
Am. Redstart
I started the day at sunrise in the Cape Hills unit hoping for
warblers. I saw none.
Moved on to Sauerheber to check on the Moorhens and saw a few warblers.
Next tried to get to Grassy Pond & Powells Lake units but the water was
up & I couldn't get there.
Onto Highland Creek Unit. More warblers
Finally Jenny Hole Unit. More warblers.
The Ohio River is up and has flooded some normally good shore bird
areas.
Saw one adult Eagle at Sauerheber.
