Last birding of the year!
I did a brief drive by at Sauerheber Unit of the Sloughs today
(12/31/07) between the 2 UK games.
Temp. in the mid 50's, brisk south wind, change over from Clear to
Overcast occurring.
Big change in ducks and geese.
No Snow geese or Tundra swans seen. If they were around they were out
of sight to the south in other water areas.
A few Greater white fronted geese. Canadas here and there.
Coots abound, Shovelers, Mallards, and Widgeons. One pair of Pintails.
Least sandpipers and Dunlins at Wood Tract.
No Bald Eagles seen.
2 Red-tailed Hawks, one N. Harrier,
Am. Kestrels on every power line facing into the wind.
I attempted to drive out to Horseshoe Road slough, but water was over
Horseshoe Road.
