Yesterday morning I saw a Shrike perched on a barbed wire fence pulling loose bite size morsels of some wee beastie that it had impaled on a barb. I meant to interrupt its meal to try to identify the wee beastie, was but it gulped down the last morsel before I had taken a step. Previously I thought Shrikes just impaled things on barbed wire for storage.
