[birdky] Short Ears at Peabody/Sinclair Sat. Evening 12/2/07

The high lite was a single short ear that was sitting right by the gravel road.
We spotted it from 200 ft. away. Stopped, put the Swift 10 x 42 on it, looked
awhile, then drove up 20 ft. and repeated. At the end of 20 minutes we were 60
ft. away and enjoying the looks when a fast traveling p/u came around us and
off the went the owl, but only another 200 ft. down the gravel road to the
other side, this time showing it breast in a better view. So we repeated the
creeping up. Afterwards on the ridge we observed around 10 harriers and perhaps
8 other short ears. The red sunset was not bad either.
