This weekend count, at 37, was more normal for November than last weekend's
47.  We missed Field and Chipping Sparrows, but counted only the second Fox
Sparrow that we've ever seen here.  I thought I glimpsed one briefly in the
pond thicket this morning, but wasn't certain of the id.  Then we spotted
one in the birch tree near the feeders, with a batch of White-crowns, about
five minutes after sunset this evening.  It gave us a really good look then.
Notables for the weekend were Turkey Vultures in the air all around, 8-10 at
times, all day today (and no, I couldn't pick a Black from among them!).
Killdeer passed over numerous times in a tight flock of at least 50 birds.
The Shrike was here all weekend making everybody nervous, which may partly
explain the lower count relative to the last.  I managed a better look at
the Bobwhite covey this afternoon.  There are at least a 15!
